Title : Solomon's Temple
Artist : Jenny Gartside
Medium : Engraved Copperplate Print
Comment : Solomon's Temple is one of Buxton's most iconic landmarks. Built in the early 1800s, it marks an ancient bronze age burial site. Situated within the grounds of Poole's Cavern and Grinlow Country Park and overlooking Buxton, it has far reaching views encompassing Kinder Scout and Mam Tor.
This is one of those local scenes which I have meant to draw, paint or print for many years, and during the current lockdown I have now had time to capture this beautiful scene on paper.
It has been created using drypoint on perspex and is an original, hand pulled, intaglio ink print. After engraving the design into the perspex, I fill the indents with ink, when pulled through the printing press the pressure forces the ink out into the pre-soaked paper.
This edition has been finished by hand with watercolour.
Measures 9 x 9 framed.
I have recently exhibited artwork at the Mall Galleries in London (2018, 2019) for the Royal Miniature Society exhibition, and this year (2020) I had a piece of silver sculpture accepted into the exhibition for the Society of Botanical Artists exhibition also at the Mall Galleries (held online this year at soc-botanic-artists.org due to the current lockdown)
I am a member of the High Peak Artists Association and sell silver handmade jewellery and engraved prints at the Gallery in the Gardens (Pavilion Gardens) Buxton as well as on my website Spa Jewellery and Art (spajewellery.com)
Dimensions (Width x Height) : 9 x 9 inches (23 x 23 cm)
Price : £ 30
