The Bingham Trust
The Bingham Trust is a registered charity operating primarily within the SK17 postcode of Buxton, Derbyshire. The Trust awards grants for charitable purposes and is run by a committee of trustees who administer an endowment set up by the late Robert Henry Bingham.
The charity's purpose is to conserve, the cultural, historical, and environmental heritage of Buxton and its surroundings, and to promote an appreciation and understanding of the landscape, and heritage of the Peak District.
To support educational activities and research projects that contribute to a better understanding of Buxton and its past or provide a better future for the people, flora and fauna of the area.
To ensure proposed developments have regard to the area’s history, culture, and heritage, thereby supporting the improvement in lifestyle and quality of life for its inhabitants and visitors.
Since 2005 The Buxton Spa Company (encompassing Buxton Spa Aromatics) have been creating perfumes from a comprehensive and ever increasing collection of pure and natural essences that have been assembled through years of searching for the best and most beautiful.
The company is committed to supporting and working in partnership with local artisans and has recently developed a range of aromatic bath and body products using natural botanical ingredients. The range is exclusively available in the town's new visitors centre at The Pump Room and The Pavilion Gardens.
The Crescent was the centrepiece of the Fifth Duke of Devonshire’s plans to establish a fashionable Georgian spa town in Buxton. The grade 1 listed building is one of the most architecturally significant buildings in the country.
The redevelopment and restoration will secure a major investment of circa £50 million in Buxton and put the town back on the national and international map as England’s leading spa town. The project will create in excess of 140 permanent jobs, 350 construction related jobs and many more permanent jobs indirectly through new spa-related businesses resulting in a boost the local economy by over £4.5 million.
The Crescent and Thermal Spa Experience and development of the Pump Room will also provide new indoor attraction for residents, visitors, groups and schools.
